ENGLISH HONOR SOCIETY GAINS NEW MEMBERS FROM K-STATE
MANHATTAN -- High academic achievement in their English studies has earned six students membership in Kansas State University's chapter of Sigma Tau Delta, the international English Honor Society.
The new members were inducted April 27 at K-State. To join the honor society, students must be of at least sophomore standing; completed nine hours of English courses, earning at least a 3.2 grade point average in those courses; have a 3.0 grade point average overall; and rank in the top 35 percent of their class.
Sigma Tau Delta, founded in 1924, has more than 525 chapters throughout the U.S., Canada, Europe and the Caribbean. The honor society promotes interest in literature and the English language, and fosters and encourages the English studies discipline in all aspects, including creative and critical writing.
New Sigma Tau Delta members at K-State include:
Christy Pottroff, senior in English education and English, Horton; Erinn Bock, senior in wildlife biology and English, Hutchinson; Nathan Egelhof, senior in English, and Elise Gaines, senior in English, both of Wichita; and Caitlin Muret, senior in public relations and English, Winfield.
From out of state: Jennifer McCollum-Roberts, graduate student in English, Bella Vista, Ark.
