K-STATE'S CHAPTER OF LAMBDA PI ETA, THE NATIONAL SPEECH COMMUNICATION HONORARY, INDUCTS NEW MEMBERS

MANHATTAN -- Kansas State University's chapter of Lambda Pi Eta, the national speech communication honor society, inducted new members in a ceremony April 11.

Lambda Pi Eta is the official communication studies honor society of the National Communication Association. The first members of K-State's chapter were inducted in 2006.

The society recognizes the outstanding scholastic achievement of its members, builds relationships between faculty and students, and supports the field through professional development, exchange of ideas and exploration of graduate education. The national requirements for student membership are at least a 3.0 cumulative grade point average with 60 semester or 90 quarter credit hours completed.

K-State's chapter created an affiliate group of associate members in 2007. This designation is for freshman and sophomores who have not yet met the semester hours criteria but who do meet the grade point average requirement and are interested in working toward Lambda Pi Eta membership.

New K-State Lambda Pi Eta members and associate members include:

Jessica Fiorini, sophomore in marketing, Andover, new member; Megan Holmes, junior in speech, Halstead, new member; Clare Feeley, junior in speech, Leawood, new member; Katy Riley, sophomore in speech, Manhattan, associate member; Jessica Heuback, junior in speech, new member, and Alicia Roberts, junior in speech, associate member, both of Shawnee; and Shannon Scribner, sophomore in speech, Valley Center, associate member.

From out of state: Paige Kovari, junior in speech, Littleton, Colo., new member; Cameron Piercy, sophomore in speech, Comanche, Okla., associate member; Amber Stanley, sophomore in speech, Temple, Texas, associate member; and Laurie Stewart, freshman in open option, Richmond, Va., associate member.
