The Institute for Computational Research in Engineering and Science was established in the 1970s as a university-wide center to promote computational research. It is administered through the department of computing and information sciences in the College of Engineering. The Institute for Computational Research in Engineering and Science works to provide expertise and computing power to engineering and science faculty at K-State. Because engineering and science research projects rely largely on computational power, researchers depend on computers to build models of "real-world" problems. These computer models simulate behaviors that may be impossible to access. The institute is currently working to provide the computational power needed for processing, storage and retrieval of data among members of K-State's research community.
