K-STATE STUDENTS, FACULTY AND STAFF VOLUNTEER TO MAKE RECYCLING HAPPEN AT WAKARUSA MUSIC FESTIVAL; RECYACALUSA PROGRAM STARTED BY TWO K-STATE GRADS

Kansas State University students, faculty and staff are chipping in to make the Wakarusa Music Festival a little greener.

RecyacalusaThe K-Staters are volunteering with the festival's recycling program, Recyacalusa. Now in its fourth year, Recyacalusa started as a project of K-State's Students for Environmental Action and two K-State alums who also were former presidents of the environmental group, including Becky Clark, a May 2007 bachelor graduate in biology, Fort Scott.

The music festival runs June 5-8 at Clinton State Park near Lawrence. K-State students volunteering with Recycalusa include:

Rachel Sherck, senior in philosophy, Abilene; Lindsay Ahalt, senior in biology, Chapman; Jeffrey Durrenberger, May 2008 bachelor's graduate in finance, Derby.

From Greater Kansas City: Eric Hafner, junior in psychology, Fairway; Erica Stones, senior in economics, Lenexa; Kate Boysen, May 2008 bachelor's graduate in Spanish and sociology, Sam Champion, senior in psychology, Michael McCall, senior in mathematics, Thomas Nesbihal, junior in pre-professional business administration, and Pam Wittman, senior in kinesiology, all of Olathe; and Will Carman, junior in women's studies, Lee Redlingshafer, May 2008 bachelor's graduate in anthropology, Erin Runnels, second-year student in veterinary medicine, and Steven Spalsbury, senior in mechanical engineering, all of Overland Park.

K-State faculty and staff volunteering include: Ben Champion, director of sustainability; Kevin Champion, instructor at Hale Library; Mark Edwards, director of Derby Dining Center and instructor of hotel, restaurant, institution management and dietetics; Gerry Snyder, multimedia specialist for the department of communications and adviser for Students for Environmental Action; and Emily Wilcox, coordinator for the dean of the College of Engineering.
