Hosni's area of expertise is thermal and fluid sciences, and he
has extensive experience in both experimental and computational
evaluation of indoor air distribution. Hosni is co-founder and
co-director of the Program for Complex Fluid Flows, and co-founder
and co-director of the Program for Environmental Air Quality,
both at K-State.
Hosni, professor and head of K-State's department of mechanical and nuclear engineering, joined the K-State College of Engineering faculty in 1991 and in 1993 became director of the Institute for Environmental Research, a position he held until 2001 when he was named head of mechanical and nuclear engineering.
Hosni is a Fellow of the American Society of Mechanical Engineers, and has been recognized at K-State with the Myers-Alford Teaching Excellence Award and the Research Excellence Award. He was also a recipient of the 2003 American Society of Heating, Refrigeration and Air-Conditioning Engineers Distinguished Service Award. In 2004 he was named a Distinguished Fellow of the Mississippi State University Bagley College of Engineering.
Hosni received his Ph.D. in mechanical engineering from Mississippi State in 1989, and then accepted a postdoctoral research associate position there to continue work on a project sponsored by the Air Force Office of Scientific Research.
