K-STATE STUDENT FROM HIAWATHA SERVING ON NATIONAL BOARD OF DIRECTORS OF FAMILY AND CONSUMER SCIENCES HONORARY
MANHATTAN -- Jamie Bauerle, a Kansas State University student from Hiawatha, is serving a two-year term on the national board of directors of Kappa Omicron Nu. The national honor society recognizes excellence in family and consumer sciences.
A junior in family and consumer science education, Bauerle was elected to the board in early August at the 2007 National Kappa Omicron Nu Conference in Dallas. As a member of the board, she will contribute to the national governance of the organization, which has more than 100 campus chapters throughout the U.S. and more than 135,000 members worldwide.
Bauerle was invited to join K-State's Omicron Theta chapter of the honor society in fall 2006. She currently serves as chapter editor. Selection to the honorary includes academic achievement and involvement in K-State's College of Human Ecology. Bauerle is a K-State honors list student and has a 4.0 grade point average. She is active in several other campus organizations, including serving as co-president of Wildcats Against Rape and working as a tutor and mentor. She also has participated in Relay for Life, Downs Syndrome Buddy Walk and various Kansas 4-H programs and events.
Bauerle is the daughter of Carol Strahm and a 2005 graduate of Hiawatha High School.
The mission of Kappa Omicron Nu is to empower leaders in scholarship, research and leadership. The goal of the mission is to enhance the ability of the organization and its chapters in preparing scholars and researchers as leaders for the 21st century.
