COLLEGE OF ARCHITECTURE, PLANNING AND DESIGN STUDENTS AT K-STATE PARTICIPATE IN ACADEMIC INTERNSHIPS, DISPLAY WORK

MANHATTAN -- Projects by student participants in the spring and summer 2007 academic internship programs of the Kansas State University College of Architecture, Planning and Design are now on display through Nov. 9 in the Chang Gallery and the first floor hallway of the east wing of Seaton Hall.

The exhibition is free and open to the public. Chang Gallery hours are 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. weekdays.

At varying points in their academic curricula, graduate and undergraduate students majoring in architecture, interior architecture and product design, and landscape architecture can opt to participate in paid internships with professional offices across the United States and around the world. Through these internship programs, students directly experience the world of professional practice before returning to K-State for their final year of study toward achieving bachelors' or masters' degrees.

The internships vary in length; some are for 30 weeks during the spring and summer semesters, while others are during the summer.

The academic internship experience acquaints students with some of the expectations and working environments of their professions and provides them the occasion to test their early notions about career choices in a variety of professional and geographic settings.
