FACULTY FROM NIGERIAN UNIVERSITY TO VISIT K-STATE
MANHATTAN -- Faculty from the University of Lagos in Nigeria will visit Kansas State University Nov. 18-20 as part of a grant that was awarded to the College of Business Administration and K-State's office of diversity and dual career development in April.
The grant was awarded to K-State to help strengthen graduate and undergraduate programs in the College of Business Administration at the University of Lagos. K-State received $500,000 in grant money and $468,000 in cost share from the U.S. Agency for International Development.
During the visit, the University of Lagos faculty will learn about the structure of the K-State College of Business Administration. They will have the opportunity to study the business programs at the undergraduate and graduate levels. In addition, they will be touring K-State's Hale Library, career and employment services and the Center for Teaching and Learning.
"We are delighted to have our educational partners from the University of Lagos visit the K-State campus," said Ike Ehie, associate dean and director of undergraduate programs at the College of Business Administration and a principle investigator of the grant. "It is an opportunity to have unique cultural interaction between our guests and our faculty and staff. This visit will also give our visitors the opportunity to see how the College of Business Administration functions at K-State in the hope they can take this information back and better their respective programs."
Visitors from the University of Lagos include John Ezike, Sola Fajana, Ben Oghojafor and Sunday Owualah.
The University of Lagos School of Business has about 4,000 undergraduate students and 400 graduate students currently enrolled.
Amir Tavakkol, associate professor of finance, and Yar M. Ebadi, dean of the College of Business Administration, will travel to Nigeria for a campus visit at the University of Lagos early next year to continue faculty and curriculum development in the School of Business.
