TECHNOLOGY TRANSFER EXPERT TO DELIVER CLARENBURG LECTURES APRIL 14-15
MANHATTAN -- An infectious disease specialist from the University at Buffalo, the State University of New York, will describe successful approaches to transferring knowledge from academia to society at large as part of this year's Rudolf Clarenburg Lectureship at Kansas State University.
Robert J. Genco, vice provost of his university's office of science, technology transfer and economic outreach, will deliver "Transfer of University Discoveries to Society: New Approaches and Early Results at the University at Buffalo" at 2 p.m. Tuesday, April 15, in the Practice Management Center of K-State's Trotter Hall.
Genco, a periodontist by training, is a distinguished professor in the department of oral biology at his university's School of Dental Medicine; he also is a professor in the department of immunology at Buffalo's Roswell Park Cancer Institute. His most recent research has studied the effects of oral infections on cardiovascular and cerebrovascular disease, diabetes and kidney disorders.
That work will be the topic of an earlier Clarenburg lecture by Genco at 4 p.m. Monday, April 14, in Trotter Hall. He will talk about "Oral and Systemic Disease: Crossing the Barriers of Interdisciplinary Research in Academic Health Centers."
The annual lectureship was established in 1996 to honor the late Rudolf Clarenburg, a longtime professor of physiology at K-State's College of Veterinary Medicine.
