WORKSHOP AT K-STATE'S BEACH MUSEUM TO HELP ADULTS TEACH ART
MANHATTAN -- The elements of art include line, shape, color and texture. The Marianna Kistler Beach Museum of Art at Kansas State University is offering a workshop to teach adults to help children find these elements in any kind of art.
"Looking at Art with Children" will take place from 7-8 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 24. The evening includes a video, handouts, project ideas and a tour of "Sculpture Transformed: The Work of Marjorie Schick." There is no charge, thanks to a grant from the Kansas Arts Commission. Child care is provided, but reservations are requested.
"The response to other 'Looking at Art with Children' sessions has been fantastic," said Kathrine Schlageck, senior educator at the museum. "With each session, new material is covered. This session is great for 'picture person volunteers,' home-schooling parents and anyone else who wants to help children look at art."
For reservations call 785-532-7718.
