K-STATE'S GREEK COMMUNITY, INSTITUTE FOR CIVIC DISCOURSE AND DEMOCRACY SPONSORING OPEN DIALOGUE ON ENERGY PROBLEM

MANHATTAN -- The Institute for Civic Discourse and Democracy and the Panhellenic and Interfraternity councils at Kansas State University are co-sponsoring the open forum, "Public Discussion on the Energy Problem: Choices for an Uncertain Future."

The forum will be 7-9 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 29, in the Flint Hills Room at the K-State Student Union.

The nonpartisan event will be co-facilitated by Kevin Keatley, graduate student in speech, Bazine, and Katy Rubiano, graduate student in security studies, Fort Riley, and both research assistants with the Institute for Civic Discourse and Democracy. Molly Hamm, coordinator of the K-State "Greeks Go Green" initiative, is organizing it. Hamm is a senior in secondary education, Shawnee.

According to Hamm, the forum is an opportunity to promote public discussion on the energy issue. Participants can engage in the democratic process through civil dialogue. The discussion will be based on a public deliberation model provided by the National Issues Forum, with three approaches to the energy problem to be discussed.

The forum is free and open to the public.
