USDA SELECTS K-STATE AGRICULTURE STUDENTS TO PARTICIPATE IN ITS OUTLOOK FORUM

MANHATTAN -- The U.S. Department of Agriculture has selected two Kansas State University students for a program that educates college students about job opportunities with the department.

The K-State students chosen for the department's Outlook Forum Student Diversity Program were Vickie Brown, senior in park management and conservation, Manhattan, and Amber Tyler, senior in agricultural economics, Omaha, Neb.

Based on essays about agriculture as a career, the agriculture department chose juniors and seniors from among the nation's land-grant universities to take part in the 2008 Agricultural Outlook Forum, Feb. 21-22, in Arlington, Va. The Outlook Forum Student Diversity Program is an opportunity for students to learn about agribusiness, the latest research, future trends and policy in contemporary agriculture.

Brown is president of the K-State chapter of Minorities in Agriculture, Natural Resources and Related Sciences and a member of K-State's Multicultural Student Honor Society. Tyler is immediate past president of the K-State chapter of Minorities in Agriculture, Natural Resources and Related Sciences, and is a member of K-State Mortar Board senior honor society and K-State's Multicultural Student Honor Society.
