Professor and dean of the College of Architecture, Planning and Design

 

Dennis Law photo From city parks to theme parks, Dennis L. Law, professor and dean of the College of Architecture, Planning and Design at K-State, has seen his landscape architectural designs come to life across the nation. His landscape design projects include parks, residences, landscape development and plazas. In addition to his landscape architectural planning, Law is an expert in environmental ethics, tropical rain forests and reclamation of disturbed lands.

Law has been an international speaker on global environment issues with more than 75 papers presented, many at national and international forums. In addition, Law has written numerous books, book chapters, articles and government publications on subjects including planting design, reclamation of disturbed lands, environmental ethics and landscape architecture education.

He is a Fellow of the American Society of Landscape Architects, a registered landscape architect in Kansas, a member of the American Society of Landscape Architects, and a member of the Sigma Lambda Alpha National Landscape Architecture Honor Society and Phi Kappa Phi honor society.

Law is a partner in DLC with offices in Manhattan, Kan., and Shanghai, China. The firm specializes in design of public spaces, housing, commercial projects and parks and recreation facilities on the Pacific Rim.

He was honored in 1991 for outstanding undergraduate teaching by the Blue Key National Honor Society and the Alpha Delta Pi sorority.

Law received his bachelor's degree in park administration from Texas Tech University, and his master's degree in landscape architecture from K-State in 1976. He has been at K-State since his graduation, serving as a professor and department head in the department of landscape architecture. He became the dean of the college in 1995.
