Associate professor of marketing and international business
With
the popularity of Web-based retailers, knowing online buyer behavior
may be the difference between success and failure on the World
Wide Web. Swinder Janda, associate professor of marketing at Kansas
State University, is an expert on online buyer behavior and customer
satisfaction. Janda's research in online buyer behavior has lead
to the creation of a five-dimension scale that measures the customer
service quality of Web sites. By addressing issues of company
performance, Web site information, security, product sensation
and access, Janda has categorized the needs of Internet shoppers
into easy-to-follow guidelines.
Vegetarianism as a consumption phenomena is another area of specialization for Janda. Vegetarianism has been studied by nutrition experts for years, but applying vegetarian needs to marketing procedures is a rare concept. Janda's research shows vegetarianism has created a new market for food companies and restaurants.
Janda received his bachelor's degree in 1987 from the University of Panjab, Chandigarh, India. He earned his master's degree in 1992 and his Ph.D. in 1996 from the University of Arkansas.
