AWARD
RECOGNIZES K-STATE'S DAVID SOLDAN FOR SERVICE, LEADERSHIP
MANHATTAN
-- David Soldan, a Kansas State University professor of electrical
and computer engineering, is the recipient of the Robert M. Janowiak
Outstanding Leadership and Service Award from the Electrical and
Computer Engineering Department Heads Association.
Soldan
received the honor at the association's recent awards banquet in
Oahu, Hawaii.
The
award is presented annually to an individual in the association
who has provided substantial leadership and service contributions.
As a longtime member, Soldan has previously held posts of secretary-treasurer,
vice president, president and member of the board of directors.
A Fellow of the Institute of Electrical and Electronic Engineers,
he also has served on the Accreditation Board of the Engineering
and Technology Engineering Accreditation Commission since 2003.
"Dave
Soldan joins a distinguished company of individuals who have received
this award," said Anil Pahwa, professor and interim head of
the department of electrical and computer engineering at K-State.
"It is a prestigious honor for someone in our College of Engineering
to be commended in this way."
Soldan
earned his bachelor's, master's and doctorate, all in electrical
engineering, from K-State. He served as head of K-State's department
electrical and computer engineering from 1989 to 2004.
The
Electrical and Computer Engineering Department Heads Association
includes the heads or chairs of more than 300 departments offering
accredited programs in electrical and/or computer engineering. The
association's threefold purpose is to help advance the field; help
members exchange ideas; and improve communication with the profession,
industry, government and others.
