The International Grains Program was established in 1978 by the Kansas Legislature. The program is a component of the department of grain science and industry.

The program's purpose is to assist in the overseas marketing of wheat, soybeans, grain sorghum and corn and is an important tool in helping to sell Kansas-grown agriculture products. The program offers short courses on grain purchasing, risk management, feed manufacturing, flour milling and special short courses designed for clientele at the International Grains Program conference center on the Kansas State University campus and overseas.

The International Grains Program annually receives financial support from the following entities: the Kansas wheat, corn and soybean commissions; the wheat commissions in Texas, Colorado, Nebraska and Oklahoma; and the Kansas Legislature.
