The Kansas Center for Sustainable Agriculture and Alternative Crops is a component of the Kansas Center for Agricultural Resources and the Environment, which is part of Kansas State University Research and Extension. Established in a bill by the senate and passed by the 2000 state legislature, the center was created out of concern for the survival of small farms in Kansas.

The center assists family farmers and ranchers to boost farm profitability and protect natural resources by working in partnership with state and federal agencies, non-profit organizations and environmental groups. The center also helps enhance rural communities.
