EDUCATION CAREER FAIR CHANCE FOR EDUCATION STUDENTS, AREA TEACHERS
TO NETWORK WITH DISTRICTS IN KANSAS, MISSOURI AND TEXAS
MANHATTAN
-- Kansas State University is offering education students and area
teachers the chance to network with many potential employers in
one place.
The
Fall Education Career Fair will be 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Friday, Oct.
13, in the K-State Student Union Ballroom. The event is sponsored
by K-State's career and employment services. The fair is open to
the public, and community members looking for certified teaching
positions are encouraged to attend.
The
fair will bring representatives from more than 50 school districts
in Kansas, Missouri and Texas to campus to recruit graduating seniors,
student teachers and current teachers for certified education positions.
Employers are looking for teachers interested in a general location,
as well as those who can teach in a specific subject area. Those
attending the fair should dress professionally and bring multiple
copies of their resumes. K-State students are invited to participate
in several workshops before the fair.
Kelli
Pitman, senior in secondary education in English and journalism,
Topeka, is attending the fair for the second year. Pitman, a student
teacher, said she is looking forward to talking with a number of
school districts without having to contact each district separately.
Pitman said the representatives from the school districts are people
who could play a role in the hiring process.
"I
think it is beneficial to talk to them at the career fair because
their minds are focused on hiring up-and-coming teachers,"
she said.
More
information on the fair, including a list of school districts attending
and student workshops being offered, is available online at http://www.k-state.edu/ces
