MANHATTAN -- Gayle Spencer, coordinator of student activities and services at Kansas State University, will receive the research award from the Commission for Student Involvement of the American College Personnel Association.

Spencer will accept the award at the American College Personnel Association national convention in April 2004.

"Gayle has been an invaluable member of our staff and has advised, taught and trained student leaders for many years," said Carla Jones, senior associate dean of student life. She is a role model for students as well as colleagues across the nation, and we are very pleased she has received this honor."

A native of Nebraska, Spencer has been at K-State since 1997. She has degrees from the University of Nebraska at Omaha and Western Illinois University, and worked at the University of Houston and Notre Dame University prior to coming to K-State.
